Community Loan Center of Northeast Indiana

Operated by the Brightpoint Development Fund, the Community Loan Center (CLC) of Northeast Indiana is an employer-based, affordable, small-dollar loan program that competes directly with payday lenders by offering affordable credit and a structure to support repayment. The CLC helps borrowers meet current and ongoing financial obligations and achieve security in their financial future.

Sustainable and Scalable
The CLC program is designed to be administered by nonprofits as a sustainable social enterprise with the potential to outgrow the need for subsidy by generating revenue for the nonprofit. This alternative, market-based approach was designed to be replicated across the state and beyond.

Employer Based
All loan funds are provided and administered by CLC of Northeast Indiana, so employers do not incur a cost to offer this valuable employee benefit. Loans are repaid through payroll deduction, meaning payments are made whenever the borrower is paid.

CLC Loan Features:

  • Up to $1,000 loans
  • 18% interest with up to 52 weeks to repay
  • $20 per loan origination fee
  • Employees apply online anytime with a fully automated system
  • No cost or risk to employers
